About Me

I am a PhD student at the Ohio State University. My route to undertaking this PhD has been long and circuitous. Having begun with a a Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences, with a transition phase during my Masters, I have finally arrived at the social sciences. It here that I should have been, but it took my 7 long years to figure that out. The unease was always present, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
My research interests are participation, governance, and equity in the distribution of benefits of watershed development programs in India, with a focus on the marginalized populations such as the landless, and women. I am also interested in studying these issues with respect to the community forest programs in India. My other academic pursuits include, trans-boundary water conflicts, the unease between the environment and development, understanding the role of capitalist and leftist ideologies in development. I an now currently delving into urban planning and design.
My non-academic interests are photography, reading, and classical dancing. I have a huge appetite for traveling and pursuing anything remotely connected to food.
